Two hearts

Standard

Hand on heart
You left me
Empty like a pocket.
And a full mouth-
Swallowed your confession of crushed glass-
The torso is wide open.
In surgery.
The broken strings
humming the saddest song
as thoughts move
like sharks – in circles-
back to my first cry of pain
when I was born.
Not knowing I’ll scream more one day .
Curled up and arms folded
around my two hearts.
One on each side.
Staring blankly, on mute.
